The Challenge
The Desired Outcome
My goal was to design a seamless, user-friendly platform that:
Empowers patients to manage both mental and physical health in one place.
Provides doctors with an efficient dashboard for accessing comprehensive patient data.
Streamlines appointment booking and communication workflows.
.Ultimately, improves adherence, reduces no-shows, and enhances overall care quality.
My Process
Research
Kano Analysis
Used to prioritize features based on user delight versus basic expectations, which was crucial in defining must-have functionalities and areas for innovation.
Competitve Analysis
The competitive analysis helped evaluate current market solutions to pinpoint essential functionalities and identify innovative opportunities. This process enabled to focus on must-have features that truly delight users while addressing existing gaps.
Centralized health record management
Streamlined appointment scheduling with reminders
Secure doctor–patient communication
Complex interfaces with steep learning curves
Jobs-to-Be-Done (JBTD) Framework & Target Personas
Using the JTBD framework, I honed in on the key user groups most likely to benefit from this solution—General Practitioners, Older Patients, and Patients with Chronic Illnesses. By evaluating their daily routines and framing targeted questions, I identified their primary needs and goals. This focused approach ensured the design addresses their most critical tasks and pain points.
Key Findings
Users desire an all-in-one solution that integrates physical and mental health management.
Doctors need real-time access to complete patient data to provide timely and effective care.
Current solutions are too fragmented, leading to inefficiencies and user frustration.
Ideation & Wireframes
Building on these insights, brainstorming sessions focused on addressing the core user frustrations:
Unified Dashboard: To present critical patient data, upcoming appointments, and notifications in a modular, card-based layout.
Intuitive Appointment Flow: With sorting, filtering, and list view options to streamline booking, followed by a clear doctor approval process.
Robust Communication Features: Including integrated chat, video call interfaces, and an AI-assisted helper for quick actions like scheduling or note-taking.
Patient & Doctor Profiles: Detailed yet easy-to-navigate profiles that organize information into clearly labeled tabs (e.g., health metrics, lab results, treatment plans).
Wireframes
Wireframes were rapidly developed and iterated upon, ensuring that each feature solved specific pain points without overwhelming the user.
The process validated user flows and highlighted opportunities for clear information hierarchy and accessibility improvements.
Design
Patient Profile: Comprehensive view organized into tabs for contact info, appointments, AI insights, health metrics, documents, lab tests, and treatment plans.
Doctor Search: Filter by specialty, visit date, and location to quickly find the right healthcare professional.
User Home: Displays upcoming medications, visits, lab results, and AI health insights; Profile: Allows users to log symptoms, track their health metrics, edit personal data, and access lab results effortlessly.
Messaging & Video: Engaging interfaces for both text messaging and video consultations that enhance doctor-patient communication.
Outcome
The project presented several challenges—from balancing rich functionality with simplicity to integrating real-time data from multiple sources.
Through iterative testing and stakeholder feedback, I refined the workflows and ensured the platform was both comprehensive and user-friendly. Looking forward, further enhancements will focus on deepening AI-driven insights and optimizing communication tools.
Daily/Monthly Active Users (DAU/MAU): Monitor overall engagement and product relevance.
No-Show Rate: Track reduction in missed appointments through effective reminder systems.
Medication Adherence Rate: Evaluate how well patients follow their treatment plans.
Net Promoter Score (NPS) & User Satisfaction: Gauge overall user loyalty and the likelihood of recommendations.
